Responsibilities
The City of Sacramento’s Department of Transportation is looking for a student intern to work in its Urban Forestry Division. The position will be working with division staff and consultants in completing an inventory of the City’s urban forest, as well as perform other administrative and/or technical support duties. A student majoring in Urban Forestry, Forestry, Environmental Horticulture, Biology, Botany/Plant Biology or Ecology is highly desirable.
Preferred Abilities
• Knowledge of Microsoft XP, Access, and Office required.
• Knowledge of GIS/Arc Pad required.
• Experience as a certified arborist is highly desired.
• Prior experience with tree identification highly desired.
• Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
Additional Info
Selected candidate must provide copy of driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance. The City will perform DMV check. Parking is not provided. Regional Transit is readily accessible.
Mandatory Qualification
Applicants must be currently enrolled and attending a California accredited college or university and must maintain a minimum of 6 semester units (or quarter equivalent) and an overall GPA of 2.0.
